    David,

Your money is safe. The issue with some of the Alliance products, such as their equity index annuities, is the return you will receive relative to the penalties you face if you need early access to the money. As cited in a recent column, many experts believe that the return is less than you would receive in less cumbersome investments.

    Scott,

I also invested in an indexed annuity with Allianz...Am I automatically a plaintiff/petitioner in these lawsuit(s)?  If not, how do I become a part of them? Or do I just wait and see what the outcome of the lawsuit(s) will be?

No, I don't believe you are automatically a petitioner. I'm not an expert in these matters so I hope an attorney will join in and tell us what usually happens.

The class action suit against Allianz is based on claims of inappropriate sales of EIAs to elderly people. It is supposed to be near settlement and will affect some 60,000 policy holders.

You can learn more about this by googling "Allianz+class action"
