Sadly, it doesn't. It may still be on the DMN website but changes in file organization have probably made it unreachable. The calculator figured the tax savings on a home mortgage, year by year in dollars and as a percentage of the purchase price of a home. Unlike most calculators, it considered the size of the standard deduction all taxpayers have and adjusted the tax benefit downward to reflect same.
As a consequence, it regularly showed that most people, in most of the country outside the expensive coasts, had far smaller tax benefits from homeownership than was generally believed.
