    Rollover traditional ira into TSP

I am thinking about rolling over my traditional ira I have with Vanguard into my TSP account.  My account with Vanguard is made up of the Small-cap index, Total Stock Market Index, and Total International Stock Index.  I am hoping to retire in 5 years at the age of 55.  If I understand correctly, I would be able to take the money out of the tsp when I retire, but would have to leave the money in the Vanguard Ira until age 591/2.  Would this be a good idea to rollover this money from Vanguard?  Thanks for your input.

Re: Rollover traditional ira into TSP

I recently retired from federal employment.  I wanted to roll my IRA into my TSP account, but learned they only take cash.  It was not the right time to liquidate my assets, as most are in corporate and government bonds that have lost value.  I did roll all of the cash I had available at the time (March 2008).  It is hard to beat what the G Fund is paying.
