    Hi all,

     

    I have one life insurance policy too many, and I'm a little low on cash flow.  Has anyone heard of life settlements?  Apparently you can sell your life insurance policy.  I saw it on this site, life insurance settlements, and I was wondering if it was legal and how it works, exactly.  Can anyone please advise?

    Harvey,

    It's legal and it can work. It is, however, a new and unregulated area so it is possible to receive much less money than you really should because the intermediaries are working to keep a very large "spread" between what they pay for a policy and what they sell it for.
