International Bank offers higher CD return

    Scott,

I came across when looking for a higher money market, CD return, Millennium Bank, SA..  A one year  CD at 6.75%.  Is this a major risk considering not FDIC insured?  Should one stay away from these?  What other options are there for a higher return, low risk in today's bear market?

Trust me, you don't get a yield that much higher than average without some real risk. According to the website www.banxquote.com, which tracks CD yields, the average FDIC insured 1 year CD is now earning 2.22 percent while the highest offer in their Texas database is 4.35 percent. I don't know anything about the offering bank but that yield is closing on the typical yield of high yield (read JUNK) bond funds, about 7.73 percent...

    Scott
