AssetBuilder will assess your current portfolio using
AssetBuilder’s Elements of Investing. This will provide a candid review
of your portfolio with a focus on the following criteria:
Expense control
Most of us don’t think much about our investment
expenses because Wall Street brokers don’t want you to think about them.
But high expenses can trim as much as 2 percent from your total return each year.
We compare the expense ratio of your current portfolio with the expense ratio of
an AssetBuilder portfolio at similar risk level.
Risk control
Successful investing means not only taking on risk
to generate an expected return; it also means eliminating unnecessary risk. We
achieve this by diversifying investments across asset classes. Avoidable risks
include holding too few securities, betting on countries or industries, following
market predictions, and speculating based on recommendations from rating services.
Fama/French factors
Researchers Eugene Fama and Kenneth French
have shown that we can achieve higher returns if we build portfolios with value
stocks — those with prices at low price-to-book value ratios. They also have
found we achieve higher returns with small-capitalization stocks. We use the Fama/French
factors of "smart indexing" to assess your current portfolio.
Mean-variance optimization
AssetBuilder applies the technique
of mean-variance optimization — the cornerstone of Nobel Prize-winning Modern
Portfolio Theory — to assess the efficiency of your current portfolio relative
to a comparable AssetBuilder portfolio.
Once you’ve received your AssetBuilder Portfolio Assessment, an AssetBuilder team
member will contact you to discuss your risk tolerance, time horizon, and investment
needs and goals.
