How do I add or withdrawal cash from my account? expand_more

There are a number ways to deposit funds including transfers, electronic deposits and checks. You can easily move money between Schwab accounts and other financial institutions using the free MoneyLink® service offered by Schwab. The MoneyLink® service may take up to two weeks to initiate. Once the service is established, transfers can be requested for any business day (allowing one business day to complete a transfer request). Recurring transfers (deposits and/or withdrawals) can be set up on a weekly, two times per month, monthly, last business day of the month, quarterly, two times per year or annual schedule.

Unscheduled withdrawal requests should be initiated with an AssetBuilder representative to ensure cash is available to withdraw and/or trades need to be made to raise cash.

Are you a fiduciary advisor? expand_more

We at AssetBuilder proudly act in accordance with the fiduciary standard. This means we are not only ethically motivated but also legally obligated to make decisions that are in your best interest. This ensures we conduct ourselves with the utmost care and professionalism, the highest standard of ethic, and manage your investment based on your benefit, not our own. 

Does AssetBuilder have access to my money? expand_more

All of our client funds are held with our independent custodian Charles Schwab. We have authorization to trade at our discretion and deduct our fees from accounts that we manage for you. We can assist with most others requests with signatory permission.

Can I open my AssetBuilder account at a Schwab office? expand_more

No. Your accounts are institutional accounts with Schwab. We can assist in opening all your accounts and provide you with the paperwork needed. You can make deposits at a local Schwab office. Please have your account number with you and remember that the advisors at the local office will not be able to help you with your investments. Do you provide financial planning? expand_more

We don’t do financial planning on a one-to-one basis. Instead, we have a very large Knowledge Center on our website. We believe that many self-directed investors can make their own decisions based on what they read or they can hire a fee-only planner on an ala carte basis. This allows the investor to reduce his investment expenses and control his planning expenses. We believe this is a better path than signing up for a management/planning ’bundle’ that is likely to have annual expenses, excluding underlying fund expenses of 100 to 150 basis points a year.

What is your investment strategy? expand_more

We employ a “buy and hold” strategy. We believe the science of that approach is sound, because we believe that over time, no one can time the market. We adhere to a few simple principles:

  • Markets are efficient and for investment purposes assets are fairly priced.
  • Diversification reduces the risk of uncertainty and asset allocation across asset classes determines your results.

The focus for the investor should always be how much can you, the investor, risk losing, and how long are you willing to stay invested in the market.
